Mission
To support its mission of providing educational resources on renewable energy financing in order to unlock capital flows to renewable energy projects in the United States, US PREF carries out the following activities:
- White Papers: Partners provide thoughtful and accurate information about how the renewable energy finance markets work as a basis for policy development and refinement.
- Official Responses: Responses to questions that have been raised during visits with public officials or from other policymakers are carefully drafted, reviewed, approved, and distributed.
- Meetings in Washington, DC: Partners of US PREF conduct regular meetings to educate Administration officials, partners of Congress, staff, and others involved in developing policy.
- Policy Brief: In collaboration with ACORE, US PREF partners prepare and maintain a Policy Brief as reference material on existing and pending legislation and regulations.
- Testimony on the Hill: When requested, US PREF partners provide testimony before a committee or subcommittee of Congress, or submit testimony for inclusion on the public record of a hearing.
- Focused Discussions & Forums: Partners support outreach to a broader audience in the finance and renewable energy communities through focused discussions and open forums including US PREF events, ACORE’s national conferences, and various workshops and events nationally.
Unique Role
While a number of groups are advocating specific policy proposals in Washington, there is a strong and complementary need for a group like US PREF that differentiates itself with a mission of providing educational resources using unbiased information on renewable energy finance and the intricacies of financing renewable energy companies and projects. US PREF will help to make existing programs like the DOE Loan Guarantee Program and new ideas like the Clean Energy Deployment Administration as effective and efficient as possible through education, rather than lobbying.
Since it is an educational organization, US PREF has not registered as a lobbying organization or as a Federal Advisory Committee. Neither US PREF members nor its coordinator, ACORE, will engage on behalf of the Partnership in any lobbying activities.
